Cool, calm, collected…live!

Live television announcing attracts a special pressure, particularly when technology fails or a major news event interrupts the schedule. The ability to remain calm under pressure is essential.

With experience going back to 1984 I have worked for most major UK TV terrestrial channels including ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. On cable and satellite I have voiced for BBC World Service Television (Asia), Biography Channel and Discovery Networks Europe.

My approach to scriptwriting is to tease and cajole in a manner that is sometimes surprising but always friendly and direct.

I was invited to be the launch announcer for Channel 5, the UK’s fifth national terrestrial television channel and currently I freelance for Channel 4 and digital sibling More 4.
